Looking for concert information or upcoming events at local venues? Here’s a listing of some of the best concert facilities in Syracuse and Central New York.
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que ( 246 W. Willow St.)
The Dinosaur marries great food with the best in local and national blues acts. Offering music seven days a week, it’s often standing room only at this popular downtown spot. The Dinosaur recently announced the opening of a second floor, which will bring even more music to this popular local spot. The Dinosaur also has locations in Rochester and Harlem.
Funk ‘n Waffles (727 S. Crouse Ave.)
Combining tasty waffles and unique indie artists, Funk ‘n Waffles offers a laid-back, relaxing spot for SU students and other music lovers.
John H. Mulroy Civic Center Theater (800 South State St.)
The John H. Mulroy Civic Center has two theaters, the Crouse Hinds Theatre, which seats 2,100 and the Carrier Theatre, with 428 seats. For smaller events, the Bevard Studio can set 150 people This venue is home to the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and offers Syracuse an excellent venue for a variety of events, including plays, musicals, and national recording acts.
Landmark Theatre (362 S. Salina St.)
Built in 1928, the Landmark Theatre is the last of the great movie palaces that once lined Salina St. With a seating capacity of 3,000, the Landmark has hosted concerts, theater, fund-raisers, and a variety of special events. Click here for upcoming shows and events.
The Lost Horizon (5853 Thompson Rd.)
Back in the day, this club was the place for live music in Syracuse and in April 2008, the club reopened with the mission of reviving its great tradition. The Lost Horizon features indie music and local artists weekly.
Palace Theatre (2384 James St.)
Home to the Syracuse International Film Festival , the recently renovated Palace Theatre offers art films, concerts, and other special events.
The Redhouse Arts Center (201 S. West St.)
Opened in July 2004, Redhouse offers a showcase for new works in theater, film, visual art, and music. The center can also be booked for private events.
Summer Stage at Tags (Big Flats, N.Y.)
While this is a bit a a drive, Summer Stage at Tags offers some great national acts and is a great place to enjoy a summer evening. Check their Web site frequently as this summer’s lineup begins to take shape.
War Memorial at Oncenter (515 Montgomery St.)
Home to the Syracuse Crunch, the War Memorial has hosted concerts from numerous national artists. The facility has a seating capacity of 7,000. Click here for a schedule of upcoming events.
Westcott Community Center (826 Euclid Ave.)
The Westcott CC is a true community center, offering programs for people of all ages. The center also hosts a variety of music acts as part of the Folkus Project.
Westcott Theater (524 Westcott St.)
Formerly the Westcott Cinema, the Westcott Theater has been completely renovated and is now one of Syracuse’s top music venues. Offering a showcase for independent and up-and-coming artists, the Westcott seats 700.
