Sunday, Dec. 6: FPB to headine benefit

Fritz’s Polka Band will be at the New London Fire Hall in Rome this afternoon to 090419_fritz2.jpgperform at a benefit for the Larsen family of New London. The Larsens lost their home in a fire in October.

FPB takes the stage at 1 p.m. and will be followed by Wanted. Along with live music, there will be food, drinks, raffles and door prizes.

The Barrigar Brothers provide musical entertainment at the Cayuga Community College 35th Annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Festival. The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, features over 200 crafters and vendors.

Saturday, Dec. 5: Tynisha Keli at the Westcott

R&B and pop singer/songwriter Tynisha Keli makes a stop in Syracuse tonight, pthumb_751tynishakeli.jpgperforming at the Westcott Theater (524 Westcott St.). The show, which is 18+, starts at 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 before midnight and $30 after midnight.

Tynisha has an international following. Her debut CD, The Chronicles of TK, reached No. 15 on the Japanese album chart, and her current single “Shatter’d” peacked at No. 6 on Billboard’s Japan Hot 100 Charts. She appeared in the 2009 remake of Fame, singing “This is My Life.”

  • Thursday, Fake Problems, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Endless Hallway will be rocking Lost Horizon (5863 Thompson Rd.) starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door.
  • Creaking Tree String Quartet performs at the Oswego Music Hall (41 Lake St., Oswego).  The show starts at 8 p.m.  General admission is $14, members pay $10.
  • Irish rockers Teada are at the Center for the Arts (72 S Main St., Homer) for an 8 p.m. show. Tickets are $30, members pay $25.

  • Loren Barrigar will be at the Elbridge Community Church (109 E Main St., Elbridge) for a party celebrating his new CD, Chillaxe. Loren will sing songs from the CD and copies will be available for sale. The event starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free although a donation to the church would be appreciated.

Friday, Dec. 4: Chris Smither at May Memorial

Folk/blues singer Chris Smither performs at May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Society as part of the Folkus Project. The concert starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15.

Smither has recorded 13 albums since 1970, his most recent being 2009’s Time Stands Still. He has performed all over the world at clubs, concert halls, and festivals in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Europe, and Australia.

Celebrate the Full Moon by getting out and enjoying some great live music in and around the ‘Cuse. Here’s what’s going on!

Tim Reynolds and TR3 performs tonight at the Westcott Theater (524 Westcott St.). The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15.

Reynolds is a musical virtuoso who plays guitar, piano, sitar, drums, violin, bass, keyboards, ethnic percussive instruments, solo djembe, and harp. He is the founding member of TR3 and performs regularly with Dave Matthews.

Reynolds’ connection with Matthews dates back to the late 1980s when he met Matthews, who was tending bar in Charlottesville, Va. Their friendship has endured, and Reynolds often tours with Matthews, as part on an acoustic duo as well as with Dave Matthews and Friends band.

Hot Tuna in Ithaca

The State Theatre (107 W. State St., Ithaca) presents An Evening with Hot Tuna , a special acoustic performance celebrating 50 years of music and friendship. The concert starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $28.

The Andrew and Noah VanNorstrand Band performs at the Westcott Theater (524 Westcott St.). The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $10.

Benefit for Fred Crittela

Area musicians will gather today at the Palace Theatre (2384 James St.) for a benefit for restaurant owner Fred Crittela who is suffering from heart disease.  The event starts at 2 p.m. and includes performances by the Lenny’s Room house band with Tommy Rozzano, Jerry More, Rick Balestra, Jack Holton and Jimmy Cox (2:15 p.m.), Jodi Bilotti with Jimmy Cox (3 p.m.), Todd Hobin (3:20 p.m.), Maria DeSantis with Jimmy Cox (3:40 p.m.), and Joe Whiting with Terry Quill (4 p.m.).

Area chefs will provide food. Admission is $25.

Also today

  • The McCarthy-Paisley Band celebrates the release of their CD, Hand-Picked, at the American Legion (Main St., Marcellus). The event starts at 2 p.m. and admission is free.
  • The SU Brass Ensemble performs at Saints Peter and John Episcopal Church (169 Genesee St., Auburn). The holiday-themed concert starts at 7 p.m. and admission is free.

The Thanksgiving weekend continues with more great live music in and around the ‘Cuse. Here’s what’s going on:

The Romantics and Square Pegs headline tonight’s Back to the 80s extravaganza at romantic.jpgthe Oncenter (800 S. State St.). The event will also feature a Michael Jackson tribute. Get out you big hair and shoulder pads and head on out for a great time. Prizes will be given to the best 80’s outfits.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the Oncenter box office.

Also tonight

  • Paul Fye and Friends perform at 7:30 p.m. at  Steeple Coffeehouse (310 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville). Admission is $7 and includes entertainment, dessert and beverage.
  • Ten Man Push is at the Center for the Arts (72 S. Main St., Homer) for an 8 p.m. show. General admission is $15. Students pay $8 and children under 12 are admitted free.
  • Spitfire Rhymer hosts a hip-hop show atClub 410 (410 Pearl St.) starting at 10 p.m. Featured performers include MCs Prospect Penz, 3D, and Whitney Peyton. Admission is $20 and VIP passes are available for $50.
