We wondered what happened to the weekly Party in the Plaza, a summer
entertainment staple for over 25 years in downtown Syracuse. Well, it appears the Updowntowners of Syracuse, the group that has run this event, plans to revive it once again.
According to the group’s Web site , a plan is in the works to move the event from its traditional Wednesday night to Thursday. In addition, the event would be held on the roof of the parking garage at the corner of Washington and West Streets.
The party, which the group proposes to call Obcityan, would still run from 5 to 9 p.m. The group proposes levying a $5 cover charge, which cover admission and one drink.
The Syracuse Common Council must approve the plans. The next council session is scheduled for Monday. If approval is received, the party could return July 16.
