The Fray coming to the New York State Fair

The Fray has been added to the list of artists performing at thfray.jpge Grandstand at this year’s New York State Fair. The show is scheduled for August 29 at 7:30 p.m.  Our Lady Peace will open for The Fray.

The Fray have recorded such hits at “You Found Me,” “How to Save a Life,” and “Over My Head.” The band has released two albums, How to Save a Life (2005), which went two-times platinum and The Fray released in February 2009.

The band currently includes Isaac Slade (lead vocals, keyboards), Dave Walsh (lead guitar), Joe King (rhythm guitar) and Ben Wysock (drums).

Tickets are $35 and $45 and  go on sale  July 25 and cost $45 and $35.

Wednesday, July 1: Fireworks and more at the Inner Harbor

090610_fireworks.jpgGet a jump start on your Fourth of July holiday weekend at tonight’s special edition of the Hump Day Concert Series at Syracuse’s Inner Harbor. The lineup includes a variety of Syracuse Area Music Awards-related performers.

Music starts with Charley Orlando at 4:30 p.m., followed by The Kim Monroe Band (5:15 p.m.), Lisa Gentile (6:15 p.m.), Stroke and Isreal Hagan (7:30 p.m.), and Mark Doyle and the Maniacs (8:45 p.m.)

Joe Whiting will sing the National Anthem to kick off the fireworks. Admission is free, and food and beverages will be available for sale.

Also tonight…

The Liverpool is the Place concert series is in full swing at Johnson Park in the village. Tonight’s featured band is The Jam Bones. The concert starts at 7 p.m. and admission is free. Bring a lawn chair and a cooler, and kick back to enjoy some great music.

Letizia and the Z Band perform a free show in Lonergan Park (Route 11, North Syracuse). The concert starts at 6 p.m. Papa John’s Restaurant will begin serving food at 5:45 p.m. In case of rain, the concert will be held the following night.

The Mike Estep Band is at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que (246 W. Willow St.) at 9 p.m. and The Fab Five is at Meghan MacMurphy’s (7990 Oswego Rd., Liverpool) at 5:30 p.m.

Charley Orlando is at Kosta’s Bar & Grill (105 Grant Ave., Auburn) for a 9:30 p.m. show and Michael Crissan performs at ShamRocks! Rock and Roll Irish Pub (109 E. Taft Rd., North Syracuse) starting at 9 p.m.

Gary Frenay and Arty Lenin are at the Sheraton University Inn (801 University Ave.) for Happy Hour starting at 5 p.m. and Crimescene is at Quaker Steak and Lube (3535 Walters Rd.) at 6 p.m.

Dave Hawthorn has his weekly gig at Woody’s Jerkwater Pub (2811 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale) at 9 p.m. and Bobby Green and a Cut Above is at Al’s Wine and Whiskey Lounge (321 S. Clinton St.) at 9 p.m.
