Saturday, June 27: Kenny G. headlines Syracuse Jazz Fest tonight

The 27th annual Syracuse Jazz Fest continues today on the Onondaga Community 090622_kennyg.jpgCollege campus. Admission is free, but there is a $5 fee to park on campus. Food and beverages will be on sale.

Here’s today’s performance schedule:

Louis H. Everding Main Stage

  • 4 p.m.: Manlius-Pebble Hill Jazz Combo
  • 5 p.m.: Al Chez and The Brothers of Funk Big Band
  • 6:30 p.m.: The Steelheads with special guest Andy Narell
  • 8 p.m.: The David Garfield Band with David Garfield, Alex Ligertwood, Larry Klimas, Doug Bossi, Lenny Castro, Steve Ferrone, and Ernest Tibbs
  • 9:30 p.m.: Kenny G
  • 11 p.m.: Price Chopper fireworks

Scholastic Stage

  • 3:30 p.m.: Skaneateles Middle School Jazz Ensemble
  • 4:30 p.m.: Corcoran High School Jazz Ensemble
  • 6 p.m.: Christian Brothers Academy Jazz Ensemble
  • 7:30 p.m.: Liverpool High School Jazz Ensemble
  • 9 p.m.: OCC Jazz Band

Master class at the Whitney Applied Technology Center

  • 1 p.m.: Steve Ferrone, drums, Room 102/103
  • 2 p.m.: World Beats and Grooves, with David Garfield on keyboards and Lenny Castro on percussion, Room 153 (TV studio)
  • 3 p.m.: Andy Narell, steel pan, Room 102/103

Also tonight…

Umphrey’s McGee is at Papermill Island in Baldwinsville, N.Y.  for a 7 p.m. show. Tickets are $26. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

The Old Songs Festival at the Altamont Fairgrounds in Altamont (10 miles west of Albany) also takes place this weekend. The festival features folk, traditional, Celtic and world music and dance. Tickets are $30 for each night of the show, which runs Friday through Sunday.

Fritz’s Polka Band kicks off the music at Taste of Utica at Hanna Park in Utica. Fritz and the boys perform at noon.  The rest of the day’s lineup includes Wooden Spoons (1:10 p.m.), Dashboard Nixon (2:20 p.m.), Classified (3:50 p.m.), Fulton Chain Gang (5:50 p.m.) , Showtime (7:20 p.m.), and The Bomb (9:20 p.m.).

Car Full of Midgets and Paranoia Dance Party headline a ska party at the Westcott Community Center (826 Euclid Ave.). The show starts at 6 p.m. and admission is $8. 

DJ Afar and Friends are at the Westcott Theater (524 Westcott St.) for a 10 p.m. show. Doors open at 9:30 p.m.

Southern Comfort performs at the Hinsdale Fire Department Field Days (113 Malden Rd., Mattydale) at 7 p.m.
