Music in the ‘Cuse

The annual Syracuse Area Music Awards were handed out Friday as part of Taste of Syracuse.

Here’s the list of winners:

• Best Jazz CD: Evan Knight - Reminiscence
• Best Recording Other Styles CD: Fritz’s Polka Band - Reflections
• Best Hip-Hop/Rap CD: Raywellz - Everything’s Good
• Best R&B CD: The J Project - Live
• Best Pop CD: White Picket Fence - Willowmakers
• Best Blues CD: Carolyn Kelly - Slow Cooking on Hot
• Best Alternative/New Rock/Metal CD: The Action! - Exploding Radio
• Best Rock CD: Dead Rose - No Tomorrow
• Brian Bourke Award for Best New Artist: White Picket Fence
• People’s Choice for Best Venue: Lost Horizon
• People’s Choice for Best Band: Born Again Rebels
• People’s Choice for Best Live Band: Born Again Rebels

SAMMY Hall of Fame inductees included Donna Colton, The Dean Brothers, Otis Smith, Mike Greenstein, and music educator Carrie Pardee. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Leo Rayhill.
