The annual Syracuse Area Music Awards were handed out Friday as part of Taste of Syracuse.
Here’s the list of winners:

- Best Pop CD: White Picket Fence - Willowmakers
- Best Blues CD: Carolyn Kelly - Slow Cooking on Hot

- Best Rock CD: Dead Rose - No Tomorrow
- Brian Bourke Award for Best New Artist: White Picket Fence
- People’s Choice for Best Venue: Lost Horizon
- People’s Choice for Best Band: Born Again Rebels
- People’s Choice for Best Live Band: Born Again Rebels
SAMMY Hall of Fame inductees included Donna Colton, The Dean Brothers, Otis Smith, Mike Greenstein, and music educator Carrie Pardee. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Leo Rayhill.

It’s a big weekend for live music buffs in and around the ‘Cuse. Here’s what’s going on:
Taste of Syracuse
Taste of Syracuse runs Friday and Saturday in and around Clinton Square. Area restaurants and wineries provide samples of their specialties, and entertainment is provided by some of the best local bands. The event also includes cooking demonstrations, a cigar bar, arts and crafts, and fireworks. Here’s tonight’s music lineup:

93Q’s Summer Jam on the Island
This year’s Summer Jam on the Island at Papermill Island in Baldwinsville kicks off at 6:30 pm. The event will include performances by ‘American Idol’s’ Elliott Yamin along with 3-Oh!3, White Tie Affair, Jessie James, Kevin Rudolf, and Safety Suit. Click here for ticket information.
Also tonight, Larry Hoyt and the Good Acoustics is at Onatavia United Methodist Church (Route 20, LaFayette) as part of the church’s First Friday series. Admission is free.
