Friday, May 15: Benefit for David Alaniz at Wacky Wyatt’s
Family Dawgz, Dark Hollow, Humble Bones , and the TippHillbillies
will perform at Wacky Wyatt’s (85 E Genesee St., Baldwinsville) as part of a fundraiser to benefit the family of musician David “Ese” Alaniz who passed away May 9 after a long illness.
Alaniz played in several Grateful Dead tribute bands, including Humble Bones, Homel-Alaniz, Dark Hollow, and Family Dawgz. He had been a Deadhead for some 40 years.
The Homel-Alaniz Band was signed with Relix Relativity Records in 1993 and released one album, It’s A Brand New Day, produced by David Nelson who played with New Riders of the Purple Sage and the Jerry Garcia Band.
The event starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $20.

The Timothy Wood Band , Gracious? Sakes: Alive! , Melody Calley and the Best Dream, and Wizwick perform tonight at the Westcott Theater (524 Westcott St.). Doors open at 8 p.m. and music starts at 9 p.m.
The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra presents an evening of big band jazz and American favorites by George M. Cohan, John Philip Sousa, George Gershwin and more. The US Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors and the Pops Chorus will perform with the symphony.
The concert will take place at the John H. Mulroy Civic Center Theater (800 S. State St.) and begin at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $15 to $70.
Jubilation! Women’s Vocal Ensemble perform at Park United Methodist Church (17 Broad St., Hamilton) at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $8.
Peter Mulvey performs at May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Society (3800 E. Genesee St.) as part of the Folkus Project. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15.
The Special Consensus is at the Kirkland Art Center Coffeehouse (7-1/2 E. Park Row, Clinton) for an 8 p.m. show. General admission is $18. Members pay $15.
