Fritz’s Polka Band rocks out at the Liverpool Library
Fritz’s Polka Band performed a rollicking 90-minute set Sunday at the Liverpool
library Sunday, mixing up conventional polka music, waltzes, original tunes, and even some Swiss music featuring guitarist Tom Campbell’s skilled yodeling.
The band played cuts from their most recent CD, Reflections, some old favorites, and a new song, “Tribute,” written in honor of a friend who was a casualty in the war in Iraq.
Sunday’s show also featured a special performance by Syracuse City Eagle’s Russ Tarby who accompanied the band on the washboard for “Pay Me My Money Down.”
What’s impressive about FPB is their musicianship. Both Fritz Scherz and his father Fred are masters on the accordion, and it’s fun to watch the interaction between Fred and Fritz.
Fritz and the band will be back in Liverpool on July 6 for a show at Johnson Park. Click here for a complete schedule of upcoming shows.
Here’s a video of the band with Russ Tarby on washboard.
