Saturday, March 14: Saint Patrick’s Day in Syracuse
Syracuse goes green as the city celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with a variety of events all day Saturday. The unofficial holiday starts with the annual parade down Salina St. starting at noon. The parade features bands, floats, Irish dancers, and represe
ntatives of city and county government. Syracuse Mayor Matt Driscoll will serve as Grand Marshall.
After the parade, you can warm up at the Onondaga County Library (447 S. Salina St.) where there will be a family friendly event from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
The Landmark Theatre (362 S. Salina St.) opens at 11 a.m. and will offer food and drink along with music by the Neverly Brothers and Gary Frenay and Arty Lenin. Tickets are $3 at the door.
Quigsy and the Bird and The Easy Ramblers will perform at a benefit at All Saints School (1125 Wilbur Ave.) at 1:30 p.m. Quigsy and the Bird will also perform at Hafner’s (5226 W. Taft Rd., North Syracuse) at 5 p.m.
The Kennedys are at the Westcott Community Center (826 Euclid Ave.) for an 8 p.m. show. Admission is $15, $12 for members.
Grada performs traditional Celtic music at the Center for the Arts (72 S. Main St., Homer). General admission tickets are $20, $16 or seniors, and $10 for students. 18 and under are free.
The Brethren and Boots ‘n Shorts at at the Westcott Theater (524 Westcott St.) at 8 p.m. Admission is $10.
If Irish music isn’t your thing, check out Born of Thunder , Seven 50 Seven, Buried in Concrete , and Floor of Eyes at The Lost Horizon (5853 Thompson Road ). Music starts at 9 p.m.
Jamaica’s Prince Theo is at the Southwest Community Center (401 South Ave.) for a 6 p.m. show. Admission is $20.
The Belcea Quartet performs at Lincoln Middle School (1613 James St.) at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors, and $10 for students.
The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra’s M&T Bank Pops Series presents ‘When Swing was King’ at the John H. Mulroy Civic Center (411 Montgomery St.). The concert features Carl Topilow on clarinet and offers music from the Dixieland and Swing eras. Tickets range from $40 to $75.
